SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 15

Requesting the joint committee on government and finance to make
a study of Tamarack visitors center located in Beckley,
Raleigh County, West Virginia.
Whereas, Tamarack officially opened its doors on May 24,
1996; and
Whereas, Tamarack is based on a simple concept, to
strengthen opportunities for artisans in West Virginia. Tamarack
has supported more than 1,200 artisans' businesses and has
generated more than four million dollars in sales and services
for the state; and
Whereas, Tamarack has allowed travelers to stop and enjoy
not only the magnificent scenery of the great state of West
Virginia but the people, crafts and cuisine of Tamarack;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the joint committee on government and finance is hereby
requested to review, examine and study Tamarack and expanding
economic opportunities and other ways to continue the success of Tamarack; and , be it.
Further Resolved, That the joint committee on government and
finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1998,
on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with
drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its
recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the joint
committee on government and finance.
